Millions of people could die of starvation if Russia does not remove the blockade of Ukrainian ports in the Black Sea.
This was stated by Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio, writes The Guardian.
According to the Foreign Minister Italy, the next few weeks will play an important role in resolving the global food crisis.
“I want to make it clear that we expect clear and specific signals from Russia, because blocking grain exports means to hold hostage and doom millions of children, women and men to death,” Di Maio said.
In turn, Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib noted the increase in fuel prices and basic th food in his country. He called for an end to the war in Ukraine “at any cost.”
“The world cannot continue to be dominated by military crises in Europe or other regions of the world,” Bu Habib added.
Recall that on June 6, President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukraine is negotiating with a number of countries and the UN to unblock ports for the unhindered export of grain. The head of state added that he had also discussed this issue with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
On June 8, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov arrived in Turkey to negotiate on corridors for safe export of grain from Ukrainian ports.
