Moscow discusses the participation of Syrian militants in the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh with Ankara. This was told by the Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Mikhail Bogdanov, he is quoted by RIA Novosti.
In addition, the Russian side expresses to Turkey the opinion that the participation of Syrian militants in the conflict is unacceptable.
Earlier, RIA Novosti, citing a source, reported that Turkey again sent Syrian militants to fight in Nagorno-Karabakh. More than a thousand people were sent to the region on October 16. In addition, another batch is allegedly being prepared for shipment.
The fact that Syrian mercenaries, supported by Turkey, were sent to fight in Nagorno-Karabakh, became known back in October. Armenia stated that four thousand militants are fighting on the side of Azerbaijan. However, after a while, according to The Wall Street Journal, hundreds of mercenaries asked to return because of the fierce fighting. At the same time, independent journalist Lindsay Snell wrote that the militants continue to fight in Nagorno-Karabakh: Turkey allegedly transports them from Libya. Ankara denies all charges.
The conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) escalated sharply on September 27. Armenia and Azerbaijan accused each other of shelling positions and settlements on the demarcation line.
