Maria Zakharova
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova demanded that the UK explain the interference in the work of the media. She announced this on the air of the TV channel “Russia 24”, RIA Novosti reports.
“If the British colleagues believe that, by practicing the tactics of silence and slowing down the transmission of the answer, they will be able to avoid dialogue on this score – no, they are mistaken,” said a spokesman for the department. According to her, London will not be able to avoid this, and in the near future such representations will be made to the British side.
At the end of February, Zakharova reported on the leaked documents of the British Foreign Office that London, through intermediaries, financially supports and manually manages the work of various information publications.
Earlier, Zakharova called the Russian non-systemic opposition agents of Western influence. In her opinion, in fact, representatives of the opposition who support the sanctions of Western countries are “agents of influence.” Zakharova considered that they were pursuing the interests of other countries on the territory of Russia, while in reality “democracy means the possibility of a political process within the country.”
