Russia and the United States have disagreements over the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. This was stated by the Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergei Ryabkov, RIA Novosti reports.
“I would not say that our positions coincide. There are features of our approaches to this topic, but for this there is a dialogue to look for a common denominator and propose options. This is what we are doing and will continue to do in contacts with the Americans, ”the agency quoted the diplomat as saying.
Earlier, the presidents of Russia, France and the United States made a joint statement on the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh, in which they called on the parties to the conflict to immediately end hostilities. In a joint statement, they condemned “the escalation of violence taking place on the contact line in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone.” The leaders of the three countries called on the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan to resume negotiations to resolve the situation with the assistance of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs. The parties also expressed condolences to the families of those killed and wounded.
The fighting in Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) began on September 27. Azerbaijan accused the Armenian military of shelling its positions, Armenia accuses the Azerbaijani military in the attack on Artsakh, both sides report civilian casualties.
