Russia continues to produce Kh-32 missiles using Western components.

This is stated in a new report by the Institute studies of war (ISW).

American analysts cite the Ukrainian organization Frontelligence Insight, which analyzed documents obtained by the Ukrainian Cyber Resistance group from the military base in Shaikovka, Kaluga Oblast. It found that Russian troops are using SN-99 navigation modules in Kh-32 cruise missiles, which largely consist of Western components.

Frontelligence Insight found that Russian troops used SN-99 navigation modules, produced in March 2023, during strikes on Ukraine. The group also found that Russian cruise missile manufacturer KB Raduga is responsible for retrofitting the Kh-32 missiles with upgraded SN-99 modules.

“It is unclear how Russian defense companies obtain Western components for the SN-99 navigation modules,” the Frontelligence Insight report says.

ISW recalled that the British organization Conflict Armament Research previously published an investigation in September 2022 in which it found Western components in the navigation systems of the Kh-101 and Kh-59 cruise missiles.
