The Russian design bureau “Malachite” has begun the development of a new multipurpose small nuclear submarine “Gorgona”.
Mini-submarines can be used in sabotage operations, stealthily approach the enemy. In addition, such submarines are faster and cheaper to build and easier to transport.
It is reported that the engineers of “Malachite” have already decided on the appearance of the nuclear submarine mini-boat. Unfortunately, details about her are still unknown.
It is worth noting that the Malakhit Design Bureau has previously produced small submarines. These were “Piranha”, its modified version “Piranha-T”, submarines P-550 and P-650E. The displacement of the submarines varies from 220 to 720 cubic meters. They can dive to a maximum depth of 300 meters. The speed of the fastest submarine P-550 reaches 15.5 knots.
