Russia assessed the possibility of artificial creation of coronavirus

There is currently no convincing evidence that the coronavirus infection was created artificially, said the head of the department of translational medicine and innovative technologies of the Federal Biomedical Agency, Doctor of Medical Sciences Daria Kryuchko, in an interview with RIA Novosti.

“There is certainly technology in the world to create such a virus, but there is no convincing evidence that it was created artificially at the moment,” she said.

In May, Australian epidemiologist Gideon Meyerowitz-Katz criticized claims allegedly proving the laboratory origin of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus. According to him, the article by Dalgleish and Sorensen is erroneous of fact. According to the version of Dalgleish and Sorensen, one of the main “fingerprints” indicating the artificial origin of the virus turned out to be a series of four positively charged amino acids, which is supposedly impossible in nature. However, it is known that, for example, 3996 human proteins have at least one region where four positively charged amino acids are in a row. According to the authors of the article, the suspicious properties of the virus are evidence that SARS-CoV-2 was created in a laboratory.
