Russian Ambassador to the EU Chizhov called Borrell's response to Lavrov's letter unsatisfactory

The response of EU diplomat Josep Borrell to a letter from Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on security guarantees was unsatisfactory. Such an assessment was given by the Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the EU Vladimir Chizhov, RIA Novosti reports.
“They [EU countries] were too timid to respond on behalf of their nation states,” the diplomat said. At the same time, he noted that the negotiations could lead to a win-win solution for all parties.
Earlier, Borrell spoke about the content of the letter to Sergei Lavrov. According to him, he invited the head of the Russian ministry to continue the dialogue on strengthening common security. He added that the document addresses the issues raised by Lavrov and confirms the proposal of the EU and its members to continue dialogue with Russia on ways to improve security for all.
