Russia has assessed the Brexit deal between the UK and the European Union (EU). Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko told RIA Novosti about this.
According to him, Moscow has a positive attitude towards the conclusion of the trade deal. Grushko stressed that now there is one less shock in international relations.
Earlier it became known that the UK and the European Union reached an agreement on the terms of Brexit after months of negotiations. One of the main documents in the framework of the general agreement was the trade agreement, which provides for the mutual absence of duties and quotas.
The UK officially left the European Union on 1 February. The parties agreed on a transitional period until the end of the year, during which most of the EU laws continued to operate in the United Kingdom. If London and Brussels did not have time to conclude a new trade agreement by the end of December, the UK would cease to be part of the common European market, which in turn would lead to the introduction of customs borders between the country and the EU.
