Russian Ambassador Ulyanov: exceptions to US sanctions will slow down Iran’s nuclear program

Russia’s permanent representative to international organizations in Vienna, Mikhail Ulyanov, said that the restoration of exemptions from US sanctions would slow down Iran’s nuclear program. He gave such an assessment of the significance of this event on Twitter.
“The clear provisions of the Iranian nuclear deal are completely misinterpreted by opponents. The policy of maximum US pressure remains the leading factor in promoting the Iranian nuclear program,” the diplomat said.
Ulyanov stressed that the restoration of exceptions could probably slow down Iran’s nuclear program.
Earlier it became known that the US administration decided to restore previously canceled exemptions from sanctions against Iran’s nuclear program. However, Washington does not consider this measure a concession to Tehran, the State Department said.
The representative of the State Department announced the restoration of exemptions from sanctions under the nuclear deal to allow third parties to “participate in nuclear nonproliferation and security projects in Iran.”
