The Russian Embassy in Washington announced the continuation of the US “self-hypnosis” about Moscow’s “attack” on Ukraine. The department's statement was posted on Facebook.
“Obviously, the flywheel of anti-Russian hysteria hyped in the United States does not allow American colleagues to look at things objectively. Self-hypnosis about the inevitability of a Russian attack continues stubbornly,” the embassy said. They added that the day before, in an interview with US State Department spokesman Ned Price, they launched a “countdown to the imaginary invasion” scheduled by the channel for the morning of February 16.
Russia also urged the State Department not to feed the “militarist frenzy” of journalists, trying to convict Moscow of spreading disinformation on the situation in Ukraine. Instead, the embassy advised to focus on the really important issues of the intra-Ukrainian conflict.
Previously, Price did not give exact dates for Russia's “invasion” of Ukraine. He said that the United States has never called the timing of the escalation of the situation. He added that the failed “invasion” does not mean that the United States had wrong intelligence.
Prior to this, the Politico newspaper reported that US President Joe Biden called February 16 the day of the alleged offensive. The British editions of The Mirror and The Sun spoke not only about the day, but also the time of the attack of the Russian troops – 04:00 Moscow time (03:00 Kiev time).
