The Aerospace Forces (VKS) of Russia have the technical capabilities and specialists capable of “thinning the orbits” of western satellites, writes RIA Novosti.
“In the event of an aggravation of the international situation, Russia will be able not only to observe the satellites of Western countries, but also to effectively destroy them,” the publication says.
It also notes that in November 2020, at the Sary-Shagan training ground in Kazakhstan, the A-235 Nudol missile defense system (ABM) missile was successfully tested, designed to intercept US intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs).
“During the threatened period, the installations will be transferred to pre-prepared camouflaged positions, where they will remain invisible to enemy satellites until the moment of launch,” the agency assures.
In November 2020, the editor-in-chief of the Arsenal of the Fatherland magazine, Retired Colonel Viktor Murakhovsky, commented on the last test of the new missile defense system carried out by Russia at the same time. According to him, “the capabilities of the missile and their limited number allows us to speak only about the interception of single targets.”
In April 2018, Russia successfully tested an upgraded PRS-1M Amur anti-missile system missile (NATO-classified ABM-3 Gorgon) at the Sary-Shagan training ground in eastern Kazakhstan, designed to protect Moscow from an aerospace attack and to warn of a missile attack and control of outer space.
