Deputy Shvytkin: Russians more often want to serve in the army, even if they are given a withdrawal from service

Young Russians have begun to express their desire to serve in the army more often, even if they are given a challenge from service. The growth in the number of such citizens in an interview with URA.RU was told by the Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Defense Committee Yuri Shvytkin and member of the Federation Council Committee on Defense and Security Margarita Pavlova.
According to Shvytkin, this phenomenon is due to the fact that a law is being implemented in the country, which limits the possibilities of working in government bodies and law enforcement agencies for those who have not served.
“Earlier, mothers asked:” Yuri Nikolaevich, help me. He is not healthy. ” Now, on the contrary, they are coming to me so that I can help, so that one or another young man can be drafted into the army, ”the deputy explained and stressed that this reason is a rather serious motivation.
In addition, he said that at present the image of the defender of the homeland is quite romanticized and in this regard is in demand. “In our Russian character, it's like a kind of romance. (…) The guys also strive to go to serve, ”he concluded.
Pavlova also announced a tendency towards an increase in the number of those wishing to serve in the army – she explained that the prestige of the Russian army has been growing recently, and the conditions of service are also improving. “For many it becomes a start in life. In my practice, there were cases when young people received a challenge, and then stubbornly proved their right to serve, ”she said.
On January 1, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu congratulated the servicemen on the New Year and wished them peace. The head of the department noted that the Russian Armed Forces have become one of the most modern and effective in the world, and serving in the ranks of the Russian army has become truly honorable and prestigious.
