Russia and Syria accused the United States of supplying militants with humanitarian aid

The United States is demanding humanitarian aid from the United Nations (UN) for refugees in Syria, but is actually planning to hand it over to Syrian militants. Such accusations were made by the interdepartmental coordination headquarters of Russia and Syria, RIA Novosti reports.

The statement says the US is putting pressure on the UN to deliver humanitarian aid to the residents of the Rukban camp. “At the same time, the Americans actually expect to use this cargo to supply the militants operating in the area under their control, as has happened more than once,” the document says.

Russia and Syria also accused the United States of obstructing the dissolution of the Rukban camp and called it a militant training conveyor.

Earlier, the deputy head of the Russian Center for the Reconciliation of Warring Parties (CPVS) in Syria, Rear Admiral Vyacheslav Sytnik, accused the United States of forcibly keeping refugees in the Rukban camp. He noted that the reluctance of the United States to ensure the withdrawal of illegal armed groups from the Al-Tanf zone indicates Washington's interest in maintaining the “conveyor belt” for training extremists in order to maintain hotbeds of tension in Syria.
