The Indian Ministry of Defense will receive more than 600 thousand Russian AK-203 assault rifles of 7.62 mm caliber. The contract for the supply of Indian-made assault rifles was signed within the framework of a meeting between the heads of the defense departments of Russia and India. This was reported by TASS with reference to the press service of the Kalashnikov concern.

In the message, they noted that the production of machines was established at the Indo-Russian Rifles Private Limited joint venture. Preparations for the production of AK-203 assault rifles in the city of Corva took three years.

A plant for the production of Russian machines in India was opened in 2019. Director of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC) Dmitry Shugaev noted that the parties agreed on the release of 750 thousand machines.

In October, Izvestia announced the arrival of new AK-12 assault rifles into the armament of reconnaissance and special forces of the Airborne Forces. Also, the military will receive night sights, thermal imagers and silencers.
