The Russian Embassy in Washington has accused the head of the press service of the US State Department, Ned Price, of double standards because of his reaction to the closure of the Deutsche Welle (DW) TV channel in Moscow. This was reported on the embassy’s Twitter account.
“The statement of the representative of the State Department is another manifestation of the policy of double standards. Where were the “high democratic values” when Berlin banned satellite and other types of broadcasting to the RT DE channel?”, the diplomatic mission recalled.
Earlier, Price stood up for Deutsche Welle. “The United States condemns the decision of the Russian government to close the Moscow bureau of Deutsche Welle,” he said.
On February 3, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced sanctions against Deutsche Welle in response to the actions of Germany to ban the broadcasting of the German-language TV channel RT DE. The agency reported on the termination of Deutsche Welle broadcasting in Russia, the closure of the organization’s office in Moscow, and the cancellation of accreditation of employees of the company’s Moscow bureau.
