Tom Hanks only got to the top of Hollywood because of his talent and dedication. The son of a cook and a waitress was not handsome and won the viewer's attention with charisma. At first, he was taken only in romantic comedies. Already in the second he distinguished himself – he played a child in the body of an adult.
The audience fell in love with the kind and sweet guy on the screen. And the directors decided that Tom Hanks could be entrusted with any role. In the early 1990s, the actor takes on two challenging characters: the homosexual with AIDS in the movie Philadelphia and the mentally retarded Forrest Gump.
“Diametrically opposite to each other. And in both the actor was as organic as possible. At first he showed that he can do it like this, and a year later – something completely different, ”said film critic Marcel Macedonsky.
It was a turning point in my career. Both films became box-office hits, and critics liked Hanks so much that something incredible happened. Oscar for Best Actor for two years in a row – Hanks is the second person in Hollywood to receive such recognition.
