Round-the-clock curfew begins in Turkey from Friday

Turkish authorities are imposing a 24-hour curfew from Friday to Sunday. The measure is intended to limit the growth of the spread of coronavirus in the country, RIA Novosti reports, citing a circular from the Turkish Interior Ministry.

On April 23, the country celebrates National Independence and Children's Day. Access to the street will be limited from 19:00 on April 22 to 5:00 on April 26. Citizens will be able to leave their homes only to visit grocery stores and pharmacies from 10.00 to 17.00, visits to doctors and walking dogs.

At the end of March, 58 out of 81 Turkish provinces, including Istanbul, Ankara, Antalya, Mugla, were imposed a weekend curfew – from 21.00 Friday to 5.00 Monday. In addition, during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, from April 13 to May 12, cafes and restaurants throughout the country are open only for delivery and take-away.

Last Friday, the daily increase in the incidence of coronavirus in Turkey showed the maximum since the beginning of the pandemic, amounting to 63,082 cases, on Wednesday the maximum deaths per day were recorded – 346. Russia limited air traffic with Turkey from April 15 to June 1.
