The proportion of children among those infected with coronavirus is about 10-11 percent. RIA Novosti was told about this by Alexander Gorelov, Deputy Director for Research of the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor.
According to him, this figure may vary depending on the season. The infectious disease specialist explained that when children do not attend preschool and school facilities, the incidence of COVID-19 decreases.
Earlier, infectious disease doctor Andrei Pozdnyakov explained the need to wear masks for children in public places. Pozdnyakov stressed that children need to wear masks in those public places where there are many adults. “The likelihood that an adult infected with COVID-19 will infect a child is several times greater than the situation when a sick child infects a healthy one,” he explained.
