Russia today is experiencing only the second wave of coronavirus infection, and not the fourth, said Alexander Gorelov, deputy director for research at the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor.
As the specialist said on the air of the radio station “Moscow speaking”, the classic wave of the epidemic is “zero – rise – zero”. According to him, in Russia, as in other countries, the second wave of coronavirus has yet reached this: the original version of COVID-19 – Wuhan – was simply supplanted by the Indian strain Delta, which has now become dominant.
The development of the coronavirus pandemic does not correspond to seasonal diseases, Gorelov noted, since the situation when 18-19 thousand new cases are observed every day in the summer is serious.
As the website kp.ru wrote, in early September 2021, the head physician of the hospital in Kommunarka, Denis Protsenko, assessed the likelihood of a new wave of coronavirus incidence. He noted that the number of cases in Russia may begin to grow in late September – early October.
Recall that in Russia over the past day, 22,430 cases of coronavirus infection were detected.
