Roskomnadzor: Youtube did not delete almost 6 thousand materials with prohibited information

by alex

YouTube has not removed nearly 6 thousand materials with illegal content, contrary to the requirement of Roskomnadzor, the department said. In total, since 2012, 71,000 materials with prohibited information have been identified.

“YouTube itself is in no hurry to remove illegal and often clearly socially dangerous content. So, starting in 2012, Roskomnadzor identified on video hosting and demanded the removal of over 71 thousand materials with child pornography, calls for extremism, narcotic and suicidal content, and other socially dangerous information. Nevertheless, almost 6,000 prohibited materials have not yet been removed, ”Roskomnadzor told Interfax.

In addition, the agency believes that YouTube “regularly resorts to censorship of content posted on Russian media accounts under the formal pretext that the content of the videos does not match the age category.” According to Roskomnadzor, video hosting is blocking videos that “convey to the viewers a position that differs from the position adopted in the West.”

As a reminder, Roskomnadzor has been slowing down Twitter since March for not deleting prohibited information. The agency does not rule out slowing down or blocking other social networks, including Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube video hosting.
