At the same time, Russian legislation creates a legal basis for regulating the Internet space, making it safer for children and adolescents. Roskomnadzor annually detects and blocks tens of thousands of illegal materials, “which are absolute evil and carry serious risks for the child's psyche: child pornography, suicidal and narcotic content,” the department emphasizes. “The amount of information posted on the Internet is growing exponentially, so the active participation of business is necessary in resolving this issue,” the RKN explains.

On Wednesday, the largest Russian Internet companies announced the creation of the Alliance for the Protection of Children in the Digital Environment, signing a cooperation agreement and voluntary commitments in the presence of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The Alliance will contribute to the development of self-regulatory mechanisms, the development and promotion of ethical principles for the protection of children in the digital environment. The members of the association, the owners of the largest Russian platforms, video hosting sites and search engines undertake increased obligations to independently identify and restrict access to illegal information and content that can harm the health and development of children, as well as exchange best practices and the latest developments in their detection.
The goal of the alliance is to create a safe and supportive digital environment that would give children opportunities for creative and professional self-development, socialization and safe communication in the virtual space. Among his priorities are the formation of moral guidelines and responsible behavior of children on the Internet, popularization of the creative use of technology, increasing digital literacy, dissemination of knowledge about media hygiene, ways to protect rights and personal information in the Internet space among children, parents and teachers. Such educational content will be distributed to younger audiences through children's media in the form of information campaigns, educational programs and trainings.
The Alliance intends to pay special attention to research and reviews of foreign experience in the protection of children from Internet threats. New related programs and solutions will also be presented with available instructions for use.
