Roskomnadzor demanded to apply a turnover fine to Facebook
Facebook will be fined for untimely deletion of information prohibited in Russia, turnover fines will be applied against the American company, reports TASS with reference to the press service of Roskomnadzor.
“Roskomnadzor, in the presence of a representative of Facebook Inc, drew up an administrative protocol for repeated violation of the procedure for restricting access to materials containing prohibited information on social networks Facebook and Instagram (owned by Facebook),” the department said.
It is clarified that in the near future this protocol will be submitted to the court. For such an offense, Facebook faces a fine in the amount of 1/20 to 1/10 of its annual revenue. The exact amount of the fine will be determined during the court hearing.
According to Roskomnadzor, 1,043 Facebook posts and 973 Instagram posts have not been deleted to date.
Earlier, Facebook received a deferral for paying fines in Russia. The company must pay about 26 million rubles by October 4.
