Roscosmos will suspend cooperation with Europe on launching Soyuz-2 rockets from Kourou, Dmitry Rogozin, CEO of the state corporation, said on Twitter.
“In response to EU sanctions against our enterprises, Roskosmos is suspending cooperation with European partners in organizing space launches from the Kourou cosmodrome and withdrawing its technical personnel, including the consolidated launch crew, from French Guiana,” the head wrote.
Earlier, the Council of Foreign Ministers of the EU countries approved the second package of sanctions against Russia due to a special operation in the Donbass.
In February, the head of Roscosmos warned of the consequences of the US blocking cooperation with Russia on the International Space Station (ISS). According to him, such a decision threatens the uncontrolled de-orbiting of the ISS and falling on the United States, Canada, India or China.
In the same month, Rogozin proposed to finalize the Kourou launch complex for launching manned spacecraft. He noted that the use of the Soyuz MS spacecraft and the Soyuz-2 rocket would allow European taxpayers to save money.
