However, former Romanian Prime Minister Ludovic Orban withdrew his candidacy at the last moment and called on his supporters to support Elena Lasconi — leader of the center-right opposition Union for the Save of Romania (USR).
Romania's incumbent President Klaus Iohannis voted at 10:00 AM at Jean Monnet High School in Bucharest.
The president left the polling station without making any statements.

As of 10:00 AM, more than 1,287,000 Romanians had voted at polling stations across the country. In percentage terms, the turnout was over 7%.
Voting at polling stations abroad began on Friday. As of Saturday, more than 100,000 Romanian citizens had taken part.
