Russian businessman Roman Abramovich has filed a lawsuit against the publishing house HarperCollins. This is stated in the official statement of the Chelsea football club and its owner Roman Abramovich.
Former Moscow correspondent for the Financial Times, Catherine Belton, published the book “Putin's People” there last spring. According to Abramovich's statement, the author of the book and the publisher are spreading false information.
– The book contains false statements and defamatory statements about me, my acquisitions and activities and about Chelsea.
The site also contains the words of Abramovich himself. There he claims that the defamatory information presented in the book harms not only him personally, but also the Chelsea club. The businessman also admits that the decision to file a civil suit by his lawyers in England was not easy for him.
– I never aspired to be a public person and attract attention, and always refrained from commenting on various issues … I sincerely hope that the lawsuit filed will not only help correct false accusations against me, but also remind everyone of the role of Chelsea in Britain. I believe that the trial will be fair, like all the previous ones, – the words of Abramovich are quoted in the statement.
