The engines of the Nauka multipurpose laboratory module were turned on after docking with the International Space Station (ISS) due to problems associated with the control system algorithms. This was announced by Dmitry Rogozin, general director of the state corporation Roscosmos.
“There were problems related to the algorithms of the control system,” Rogozin said on the air of the Soloviev Live YouTube channel.
The head of Roscosmos added that it was difficult to predict how the system would behave.
Earlier, the executive director of Roskosmos for manned space programs, Sergei Krikalev, said that the International Space Station was not damaged during an unscheduled start of the engines on the Russian multipurpose laboratory module Nauka. The incident occurred as a result of the operation of the module's safety system, which decided that the “Science” was in free flight. The consequences of the incident may appear in the future, Krikalev noted.
