Moscow. June 5. INTERFAX.RU – “Roskosmos” does not exclude the participation of NASA in the project of a new orbital station, but this issue will be resolved later, the head of the state corporation Dmitry Rogozin told Interfax.
“We are at the very beginning of the road. We are still talking about the technical side of the matter, and already participation, international or purely national, is an issue that will be resolved at later stages,” Rogozin said, answering the relevant question.
On the eve, Rogozin held talks with the head of NASA Bill Nelson. According to Roscosmos, Nelson accepted the invitation of the head of the Russian state corporation to visit Russia and proposed to extend the operation of the ISS until 2030.
Rogozin, in turn, noted that discussion of the future fate of the ISS is possible only after the lifting of American sanctions against the enterprises of Roscosmos.
Earlier it was reported that Russia could withdraw from the ISS project from 2025, transferring responsibility for its segment to its partners in the station. At the same time, the executive director of Roskosmos for science, Alexander Bloshenko, said that Russia could continue to support its segment with the financial participation of the United States.
An alternative would be the creation of a national orbital station, the first module of which is planned to be launched in 2025 and completed in 2035.
