Dmitry Rogozin
Roscosmos CEO Dmitry Rogozin praised the success of SpaceX founder Elon Musk in space. He expressed his opinion in an interview with the Komsomolskaya Pravda radio station.
He called Musk “an outstanding space enthusiast,” stressing that SpaceX has one specific owner and idea generator. He noted that he has great respect for the “engineering and propaganda” talents of the American entrepreneur and inventor.
The head of Roscosmos also recalled that private American companies Boeing and SpaceX are working on government money.
In October, Rogozin noted that there is nothing ingenious about Musk's SpaceX inventions. There is little achievement in the fact that an American private company can carry crews to the ISS, the official said. Dmitry Rogozin also stressed that he doubts the economics of the reusable rocket launches proposed by SpaceX.
In early October, the state corporation Roscosmos, together with the private company Reusable Transport Space Systems (MTKS), decided to build a reusable transport spacecraft. As conceived by the authors of the project, the domestic development should compete with Elon Musk's Crew Dragon ship. To date, SpaceX has completed 25 launches in 2020, 14 of which have launched Starlink satellites.
