Rogozin announced the development of a project for an eco-monitoring system from space

Russia has begun to develop the design of spacecraft that will be able to track greenhouse gas emissions, said Roscosmos CEO Dmitry Rogozin in Telegram.

According to him, Roscosmos plans to focus on the creation of devices for environmental monitoring and combating greenhouse gas emissions.

“On my instructions, specialists have already begun to create spacecraft designs capable of detecting dangerous actions against the environment, including carbon emissions. In this matter, we will interact with SIC Planeta (Roshydromet), ”Rogozin wrote in Telegram.

He noted that humanity should leave to future generations “a pure nature and a planet favorable for the development of mankind”, and not seek escape routes for “the chosen ones from the dying Earth under a glass bell on an alien lifeless planet.”

In May, the head of Tesla and SpaceX Elon Musk called the construction of bases on the Moon and Mars the next step after the creation of the International Space Station (ISS). “The Earth is the cradle of humanity, but we cannot stay in the cradle all the time,” Musk quoted the scientist Konstantin Tsiolkovsky.

Rogozin, in turn, believes that space lovers often find themselves hostage to fantasies about an imminent flight to Mars, but “people who are technically initiated understand that this is complete absurdity.” He called conversations about such a possibility a usual marketing ploy.
