Rock musician Makarevich recognized in Russia as a “foreign agent”

Recognition as a so-called foreign agent imposes a number of restrictions and requirements on organizations and individuals in the Russian Federation, failure to comply with which may result in prosecution up to criminal liability.

The leader of the Russian rock band “Time Machine” Andrey Makarevich was included in the list of “foreign agents” individuals, which was updated by the Russian Ministry of Justice on the evening of Friday, September 2.

The updated list is published on the department's website.

The list of individuals-“foreign agents” in general was replenished with six people.

In addition to musician Andrey Makarevich, Ukrainian journalist Dmitry Gordon, his Russian colleague Yekaterina Gordeeva, associate of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny Ivan Zhdanov, political scientist Fyodor Krasheninnikov, and businessman and philanthropist Boris Zimin, son of Dmitry Zimin, the founder of the Beeline company, were included there.

The Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation believes that the mentioned persons are engaged in political activities, while receiving funding from Ukraine.

The register of “foreign agents” media has also been updated, which includes the editor-in-chief of Novaya Gazeta. Europe Kirill Martynov, showman Mikhail Shats, journalist, historian and political scientist Sergei Medvedev, journalist Sergei Loiko, oppositionist Yulia Galamina, LGBT activist from St. Petersburg Kirill Fyodorov .

Practically all of the “foreign agents” included in the lists opposed the Russian invasion of Ukraine in one way or another.

In total, the register of mass media-“foreign agents”, which can include individuals, consists of more than 150 people and organizations. There are currently 19 people in the recently opened register of individuals-“foreign agents”.

The Russian authorities are actively replenishing the registers, including mainly their opponents or independent public activists and journalists.

Recall that Andrey Makarevich, the leader of the Time Machine group, has been supporting Ukrainians since the first days of the military invasion and condemns the actions Russian authorities.
