Robots to check QR codes will appear in St. Petersburg restaurants

Robots will appear in restaurants in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Perm to check QR codes confirming vaccination or postponed coronavirus. The first such robot was presented by the Promobot company.

According to preliminary data, the Gusi chain will place them in its establishments in the Northern capital, RIA Novosti reports. “DP” could not find any mention of such a network on the Internet, but there are two restaurants in St. Petersburg called “Geese-Swans”. Whether they are related to the project is unknown.

As the developers said, the robot can move at the entrance to the premises and communicate with visitors. To check QR codes, it was equipped with a special scanner, as well as a passport scanner. The device was integrated with the “Gosuslug” service.

In Moscow, such robots will be acquired by the Italian restaurant The Toy, and in Perm, by the Amber restaurant. In addition to catering establishments, similar devices may appear in airports and educational institutions.

Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova on October 5 strongly recommended the regional authorities to enter QR codes for admission to public events and public places only for those who have been ill or vaccinated. Most regions of the Northwest have already introduced such measures, including the Leningrad Region. However, in St. Petersburg, we are not talking about such QR codes yet. According to media reports, this measure is still being discussed in Smolny.

QR codes were introduced only for businesses in the service sector – restaurants, beauty salons, fitness clubs, and so on. They are issued to those companies where at least 80% of employees will be vaccinated and ill.
