The Austrian insurance association VVO gets a new president. Robert Lasshofer will take over the chairmanship of the executive committee from UNIQA Austria boss Kurt Svoboda on January 1, 2021 for the next two years. Until the end of the year, Lasshofer is still general director of Wiener Städtische Versicherung and from January 2021 he will be chairman of the board of Wiener Städtische Versicherungsverein.
Born in Vienna, he has headed Wiener Städtische since 2010, before that he was a board member responsible for marketing and sales. “The importance of insurance will increase massively in the future. Gaps in care will increase in old age, at the same time many new risks arise due to the rapid technological progress”, Lasshofer said in a broadcast on Monday. With e-mobility, smart home and cybersecurity, insurance companies are “an indispensable partner for security solutions of the future”.
The Association of Insurance Companies in Austria VVO represents the interests of all private insurance companies operating in Austria. The Austrian insurance industry employs around 29,000 people and is one of the country's largest investors.
