Moscow. October 5. INTERFAX.RU – Since May 2020, Roskomnadzor has identified 33 cases of Facebook censorship in relation to Russian media and other projects.
For example, the press service mentioned restrictions on the stream in the RT account about Yuri Gagarin's flight into space, on the RT educational project “Red Fish”, on materials with fragments of the Russian anthem.
RKN also reported that in the presence of a Facebook representative, a protocol was drawn up on the company's refusal to remove content prohibited in Russia, for which the service faces a fine of up to 1/10 of its annual revenue. The department noted that 1043 materials on which the company received requests were not deleted on Facebook, and 973 on Instagram. Previously, the department called Facebook and YouTube leaders in destructive content.
Before the State Duma elections, Roskomnadzor warned that a refusal to remove or block materials that violate Russian electoral laws would be viewed as interference by Internet companies in Russian politics. The department also considered the blocking of the Instagram account of a candidate for State Duma deputy, co-chairman of the Fair Russia – Patriots – For Truth party, writer Zakhar Prilepin as interference in the Duma elections.
