RKN demanded from Instagram to remove restrictions on the reproduction of the Russian anthem
Roskomnadzor appealed to the leadership of the social network Instagram with a demand to remove restrictions on the playback of videos containing fragments of the National Anthem of the Russian Federation, the press service of the department reports.
The corresponding request was sent to the management of Facebook Inc. The letter notes that these restrictions were introduced “under the alleged pretext of copyright infringement.”
Roskomnadzor also recalled that in any country in the world, the demonstration of state symbols by its citizens in public space “is an expression of respect for their country,” and the anthem itself cannot be an object of copyright.
The department stressed that the systematic attempts of Western social networks to block content containing state symbols of Russia insult the citizens of the country.
“We call on social networks to respectfully treat the official symbols of the Russian Federation that are significant for Russians,” noted representatives of the RKN.
Earlier, Roskomnadzor also recommended that Russians use domestic services instead of Zoom for video conferencing more actively.
