Moscow. June 23rd. INTERFAX.RU – Roskomnadzor demanded that Google stop technical support for the Smart Voting website of the opposition leader Alexei Navalny's team, said Yekaterinburg lawyer Andrei Elantsev, who sent the corresponding appeal to the department.
“Roskomnadzor satisfied our complaint about the illegal actions of Navalny's team. A request was sent to Google to terminate the technical support of the Smart Voting website,” Elantsev wrote on Facebook.
Also, the lawyer published on the social network the response of Roskomnadzor to his appeal. Its text says that the department sent a letter to Google LLC (owns the platform on which the site is located) “to assist in taking measures to prevent the illegal processing of personal data of Russian citizens by terminating the technical support of the site.”
Elantsev's message emphasizes that “on the site of“ Smart Voting ”, under a good pretext, a covert collection of information about the citizens of the Russian Federation was carried out in a larger volume than necessary (…) in order to use this excessive amount of information in the September elections in questionable political technologies and the transfer of this data to the USA.
