Cyber Defense Forces will be created in Ukraine. The development of the relevant bill is at the final stage.
The Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov spoke about this in an interview.
He recalled that the relevant presidential decree refers to the creation of cybertroops. However, the Department of Defense has proposed calling this new unit the Cyber Defense Force, as this will provide greater legal scope in the future.
– Now, together with the NSDC apparatus and related structures, we are finalizing the draft law on the Cyber Defense Forces, discussing the main draft. The presidential decree says about the creation of cybertroops, but we talked with experts from different countries and agreed that these were Forces, this gives additional legal opportunities, a little wider than those of the troops, Reznikov noted.
The minister clarified that the development of a regulatory framework is currently underway. The draft law on the creation of the Cyber Defense Forces will spell out how they will look like, their structure.
“And then it will be clear what funding is available for this and how long they can be deployed,” Reznikov added.
As you know, in May 2021, the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine considered urgent measures for the cyber defense of our state. In particular, it was decided to create cybertroops in the system of the Ministry of Defense. Subsequently, this decision of the National Security and Defense Council was approved by President Volodymyr Zelensky by his decree.
The other day, Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Serhiy Demedyuk called on citizens with the necessary knowledge and skill level to join the cybertroops. To do this, contact the National Cyber Security Coordinating Center.
