Scientists from Norway conducted a recent study to find out how much exercise a 10-hour stationary sitting can balance.
It turned out that, on average, it is enough to engage in moderate physical activity for 40 minutes to overcome the negative impact of a sedentary working day, writes BMJ Journals. This conclusion was drawn from a meta-analysis based on nine earlier studies on the same topic.
The total number of people who took part in all experiments reaches 44,370 people.
For moderate physical activity, scientists attributed cycling, brisk walking and gardening. At the same time, scientists admitted that it is quite difficult to give a general recommendation for all ages. But in general, they offered to “mark” in 30-40 minutes.
