The habit of turning off your smartphone at night has positive psychological consequences. Alesya Borovikova, a specialist in the press service of Roskachestvo, revealed this in a conversation with the Prime agency.
According to Borovikova, from a technical point of view, turning off the phone at night is useless, since the device is designed for a long time of operation without interruptions. However, from the point of view of psychology, the practice of refusing to use gadgets before bed is justified. “There are studies that show a direct link between sleep disturbances and the use of a smartphone in the dark in bed,” said the specialist.
The representative of Roskachestvo stressed that sleep disturbance usually causes the screen to glow, so it is recommended either to turn off the device before resting, or not to use the device at least an hour before bedtime. In this regard, Alesya Borovikova advised to activate a special mode on smartphones, in which the spectrum of the screen's glow changes to a yellower one, which is less irritating to the eyes. “This option can be called differently (reading mode for Xiaomi, Night Shift for iPhone),” the expert noted.
Borovikova also noticed that it is not very wise to charge the phone all night long. In this case, an additional impact is exerted on the device's battery, which affects its life. “Better to let it run out a little in the morning, but there will be no risk that this will negatively affect the battery life,” the specialist summed up.
Earlier, the expert of the NAFI “Digital Citizen” platform, Vladimir Gritsenko, spoke about the optimal frequency of smartphone reboots. According to him, the device should be turned off and on again in case of noticeable failures in the operation of the OS or applications. In this case, as a rule, smartphones themselves restart during the installation of updates and when critical errors occur.
