All of Apple's flagship smartphones scheduled for 2022 will receive a new generation of displays. This is reported by the Korean edition of The Elec.
As it became known to sources connected with Apple partners, the company plans to equip the screens of the new generation only the Pro-model of the iPhone 13 series. Such displays will be based on panels based on low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO). The design feature will allow them to display images at a frequency of up to 120 hertz – like many Android flagships.
From the disclosed data, it follows that the top managers of the American corporation would be ready to equip the basic devices with similar screens – the iPhone 13 and 13 mini. However, the only supplier involved in the production of LTPO panels – Samsung – may not be able to cope with the order volumes. But experts are confident that LTPO will become a key feature of all iPhone 14 series devices.
This is because LG plans to start producing LTPO panels in 2022. Thus, the Korean company can take over some of Apple's orders and provide Tim Cook's corporation with the required number of panels.
Insiders believe that Apple is counting on this outcome. If an additional supplier appears, the company will not only be able to equip all smartphones with new screens, but also diversify production.
Earlier, insiders in the production of smartphones Apple announced that the new flagships of the company will be called the iPhone 13. It is expected that Apple will present four devices in the fall.
