Reuters: SpaceX plans to bring wireless internet worldwide by fall

LONDON, June 22. / TASS /. Elon Musk's company SpaceX (Space Exploration Technologies) plans to provide wireless Internet worldwide using the Starlink satellite system by September. This was reported on Tuesday by Reuters with reference to the president of this American aerospace corporation Gwynne Shotwell.

“We have successfully deployed about 1,800 satellites, and once they reach operational orbit, we have global internet coverage, but then we need to get regulatory approvals,” she said at a Macquarie Group technology web conference.

SpaceX plans, according to Shotwell, to deploy a total of 12,000 satellites worth about $ 10 billion. Elon Musk said in May that the company had received more than 500,000 orders to connect to the Internet.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) approved SpaceX's plans this year to deploy some Starlink satellites in lower Earth orbit than planned, which will help bring high-speed broadband internet to people who currently don't have access to it.

The Starlink network is designed to provide Internet access by deploying a large number of small vehicles weighing up to 500 kg in low-Earth orbit. In May 2019, its first 60 vehicles were launched into space.
