Eduard Aksenov, deputy head of the Khrustalny department of the Sambo-70 school, confirmed the return of Russian figure skater Evgenia Medvedeva to coach Eteri Tutberidze. His words are quoted by “Sport-Express”.
Aksenov noted that it makes no sense to deny the transition of the athlete. “It's true. How did it happen? You'd better ask Evgenia and Eteri Georgievna, ”he said.
Medvedeva's intention to leave the group of Canadian specialist Brian Orser and return to Tutberidze became known earlier on September 16. Details of a possible transition are still unknown.
Medvedeva left the Tutberidze group in the summer of 2018 after losing to another student of the coach Alina Zagitova in the personal tournament of the 2018 Olympics in Pyeongchang. In addition to silver at the Games in Pyeongchang under the leadership of Tutberidze, Medvedeva won two gold medals each at the World and European Championships, as well as the Grand Prix final. With Orser, she won bronze at the 2019 World Championship.
