French glass makers have begun cleaning and restoring nearly 40 tall windows.
In France, work has begun on cleaning and restoring the stained glass windows of Notre Dame Cathedral, which was badly damaged by fire three years ago.

Most of the stained glass windows were able to withstand the heat and flames, but were heavily polluted with smoke and dust, which blocked outside light and darkened the color scheme of the 170-year-old glass.
Eight French glass manufacturers set to work to the painstaking work of cleaning and restoring the 39 high windows in the nave, choir, transept and sacristy of the medieval cathedral.
The cleaning process the glass involves gently wiping the surface with cotton wool soaked in water and ethanol, a delicate and repetitive process designed to pick up deposits without damaging the window.
The cathedral was closed for restoration as a fire in April 2019 destroyed it roof, and the spire fell.
They want to open the cathedral in 2024, when the Olympic Games will be held in France.
Recall that in the evening April 15, 2019 in the legendary Paris Cathedral of Notre Dami there was a fire. During the fire, the 93-meter spire of the building collapsed and the roof burned out. The monument is still closed for reconstruction.
