Due to the chaos, local authorities held an emergency meeting and decided to restrict the entry of buses.
The small Italian town of Roccaroso became a “victim” of the viral effect of social networks. After popular TikToker Rita De Crescenzo shared a video from the resort praising it as a “beautiful place”, thousands of tourists flocked there, causing chaos in the town of only about 2,000 people.
The Daily Mail reports on this.
Around 10,000 tourists arrived in Roccaroso on 260 buses or in their own vehicles, taking advantage of budget tours for 20 euros “all inclusive”. The mountain roads were overcrowded with buses and cars, and the town itself quickly became littered with garbage. Tourists expecting an ideal winter holiday were disappointed – there was almost no snow on the slopes, restaurants were overcrowded, and people had to wait in long lines to find a place in the toilets.
The blogger herself refused to admit responsibility for the chaos, although she admitted that her videos became a real hit on social networks. “Thanks to my video, there will be even more people here next weekend,” De Crescenzo said, noting that her audience is families who just want to give their children a good experience.
Local authorities were unprepared for the influx of visitors. One eyewitness said children on homemade sleds were “knocking down people like bowling pins” in an attempt to have fun among the crowds. Tourist Gaia, 20, shared her disappointment: “Nobody expected such a crowd. They just closed the doors of the restaurants because there were no seats. People were standing in long lines for the toilets.”
Due to the chaos, local authorities in L'Aquila held an emergency meeting and decided to restrict the entry of buses. Roccaroso Mayor Francesco Di Donato said that bus parking on the nearby Viale Napoli street would be prohibited and that special checks would be carried out. He also called for the army to be called in to prevent a repeat of the situation next weekend.
Recall that Urich is one of the best tourist villages in the world. This title was awarded to a small village in the Lviv region by the UN World Tourism Organization. This year, almost three hundred villages from 60 countries took part in the competition, and only two Ukrainian villages made it onto the list of winners.
