All Afghan citizens who helped the US troops are in grave danger. This was stated in an interview with RIA Novosti by the former Afghan translator Ismail Khan.
In his opinion, the militants of the radical Taliban movement (banned in Russia) will not show mercy towards residents who collaborated with the US military. “They will kill each of them if they take over the country,” he warned.
The translator stressed that the Taliban have no plans to peacefully resolve the current conflict. “They will not reach peace, if they wanted it would have happened long ago, but we have been hearing about negotiations and contacts for years,” he said. Khan said US and NATO troops are leaving Afghan territory at a time when Taliban forces are on the rise. He pointed out that if the militants seize control, the republic will become a haven for terrorists.
On August 2, it became known that Washington has expanded its program of receiving Afghan refugees. The US authorities have expanded the range of individuals who can exercise the right to receive asylum. At the same time, the US State Department offered refugees to independently get out of Afghanistan in order to get to the United States.
