The world's first study of combination vaccines took place in Argentina. Scientists of the country, together with specialists from the Russian Direct Investment Fund, were able to prove that Sputnik Light, which is the first part of the Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine, is effective as a booster dose.
A booster dose is a dose given after the main part of the vaccine has been used to re-expose the body to antigens (pathogen molecules that trigger the immune system) and trigger the second part of the immune response.
“Sputnik Light and Moderna are helping other vaccines as second injections (boosters) to stimulate a stronger immune response to the coronavirus,” the RDIF reported on Twitter.
According to the researchers, the combination of AstraZeneca and Sputnik Light also showed excellent results.
As the website kp.ru previously wrote, the Russian single-component vaccine against coronavirus infection “Sputnik Light” can become a universal booster for most drugs against COVID-19.
