Research: Coronavirus Learned to Embed in Human DNA
American scientists believe that the coronavirus is able to integrate into human DNA. That is why in some patients who have had covid disease, even after a while, the test may be positive. This is reported by the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
According to the researchers, SARS-CoV-2 RNA makes its way into the genome of an infected cell by reverse transcription. The material notes that not only the coronavirus has such an ability. About 8% of human DNA is the remains of ancient viruses.
To test their hypothesis, scientists first infected the cells with covid, and after 48 hours they sequenced their DNA. The goal of the scientists was to find the genetic fragments of COVID-19. For this, three different methods were used, with each of them the coronavirus genome was found.
At the same time, scientists noted that the detected genes are not enough to recreate a living virus.
Earlier, experts from the United States found a way to cleanse the body of old cells. Researchers have figured out a way to activate immune cells.
