Popular service among right-wing extremists banned by Internet companies.
The head of the online network Parler, which is widely used by right-wing extremists, has been sacked, according to a media report. The conservative US news broadcaster Fox News quoted on Wednesday from a memo by the previous Parler boss John Matze in which he reported about his expulsion by the board of directors.
In the past few months he has experienced “constant resistance” to his ideas about the Parler service and his “belief in freedom of expression,” said Matze.
Parler was launched in 2018 and is a home for right-wing extremists and other right-wing groups. Since corporations like Facebook and Twitter have been actively combating false reports as well as racist and violence-glorifying content, Parler has gained increased popularity.
After the storming of the Capitol in Washington by militant supporters of the elected US President Donald Trump on January 6, the internet giants Amazon, Apple and Google cut their ties to Parler.
