Special paint job for Max Verstappen
Formula 1 fans know the Red Bull cars with their blue, yellow and red look. But in the race in Istanbul the Austro racing team starts in different colors.
At the race next Sunday, Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez will start in unusual red and white cars. Red Bull announced the action with a Twitter video. “Something looks a little different,” writes the racing team.
The background to the campaign is the farewell to motor manufacturer Honda. The “cops” have been driving with engines from the Japanese since 2018, and Red Bull intends to look after the engines itself in the future. The red and white look is supposed to be reminiscent of the Honda RA272, with which US driver Richie Ginther won the first victory for the Japanese in the PS premier class in Mexico in 1965. A red circle on a white bolide was reminiscent of the Japanese flag.
Incidentally, no changes to the paintwork are planned for “sister team” Alpha Tauri. On the cars of Pierre Gasly and Yuki Tsunoda, however, the words “Arigato” will appear, which means “Thank you” in Japanese. The farewell campaign should actually have taken place at the Honda home race in Suzuka, but the Japanese Grand Prix was canceled again due to the Corona entry restrictions.
