Carlo Ancelotti has raved about David Alaba as a “complete player”, but left it open where the new signing at Real Madrid will be seen in the future. As Real's neo-trainer noted in a report on the club's own TV station, the Austrian can be used variably. Alaba, who is still on vacation after his European Championship, will start training at his new club in the coming week.
“He was a central defender in the last few games. He did very well. As a left-back he was very experienced and had a high level of intelligence. He can play both positions,” said Ancelotti. For Austria, Alaba has also already entered the central midfield. “He is a complete player who will definitely do very well this season,” said the Italian. Defense chief Sergio Ramos is known to have left Real in the summer.
Ancelotti still knows Alaba from his time as coach of Bayern Munich in the 2016/17 season, when the German championship title was won. Back then, the Viennese played primarily as a left-back. Ancelotti then had to leave in September 2017. The 62-year-old was head coach at Real from 2013 to 2015.
